M.A. IN CURATORIAL STUDIES

The program enables students to gain professional experience through organizing exhibitions in a museum setting while pursuing a dynamic academic degree that frames pertinent histories as well as the most pressing issues of the moment.
A master’s degree in Curatorial Studies will prepare you to work in a contemporary art museum, collecting museum, international biennial, research institute, artist residency, artist-led organization, foundation, archive, library, or magazine. CCS Bard graduates (over 375 as of 2025) compose a strong network of mutual support and advocacy as new graduates make their way. Undergraduate Second Focus In Curatorial and Museum Studies
The Art History and Visual Culture program in conjunction with CCS Bard offers an undergraduate interdisciplinary second focus in Curatorial and Museum Studies.
Drawing from the disciplines of Architecture, Anthropology, Studio Art, and Art History, the second focus in Curatorial and Museum Studies allows students the opportunity to consider how museums, archives, and exhibitions present artworks and artifacts to different publics. Broadly speaking, Curatorial and Museum Studies offers a methodology and way of thinking that attends to both the material qualities of objects and how they might be presented in an accessible and ethical fashion.
